How to Submit Regular Session Papers

Prospective authors are invited to submit full draft papers electronically through the conference web site. The draft paper should be written in English, not exceeding 6 pages on A4 or letter-size paper in Times or a similar font of 10 points or larger. The first page of each paper must include the title, name(s) and affiliation(s) of the author(s), email address(es), abstract, maximum 5 keywords. Since an IEEE paper format is preferred, the detail of the format can be found at Only electronic submission by PDF file is accepted.

A draft paper should be uploaded through the conference web page for submit ( ) where detailed instructions are found. Each contact author must specify his/her postal and email address when submitting a paper. An author should also remark that the PDF file should not exceed 1.5MB.

Important Notice: Each final paper submission must be accompanied with at least one registration or one additional paper charge.

Important Remark: Papers for ORGANIZED SESSIONS should directly be emailed to the corresponding session organizers. They should NOT be uploaded to the web page for submission, as the web submission and review system is solely for regular papers.

Proposal for Organized Technical Sessions

Each organized technical session will have 5 paper presentations. An organizer can propose maximum 3 organized sessions (15 paper presentations).

Proposals to organized sessions should include the following information: name and address (including E-mail) of the proposer, title of a session, a 100-word description, and each author's names and addresses (including E-mail). Mail your proposal to Organized Sessions Committee Chair, S. Yasunobu before June 30, 2002. E-mail submissions are preferred.

The session chairs will be responsible for soliciting the papers, reviewing, and making final decisions, in consultation with the conference chair. Then, the organizer should be notify each author that papers must be submited to the organizer by E-mail, directly. It means that authors in organized sessions should NOT submit using the conference web page for submission.

All final camera ready papers must be sent by August 31.

Important Notice: Each final paper submission must be accompanied with at least one registration or one additional paper charge.

The names of session chairs will appear as organized session committee members in the proceedings.

Reward for Organizer

If the presentation number of proposed organized sessions is more over 10 (registration base at August 31, 2002), we economically support 20,000 yen (about 150 US dollar) to the organizer at conference site. If the number is more over 15, we support 30,000 yen.

Exhibition will be held from Oct. 22 to 24.


Proceedings will contain papers and abstracts of all the sessions in a CD-ROM.


The members of the organizing committee invite commercial and non-commercial organizations to take part in an exhibit at the Auditorium of AIST in Tsukuba. The exhibit will feature products, services and information in the field of soft computing and intelligent systems.

Each exhibition must be required at least one registraion.

The appropriate space and 100 VAC power outlet (Max 10A) will be provided.

Description of exhibitions will be included in the proceediongs.

Deadline for exhibition proposals is August 31, 2002.

Social Events
